Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
Activity Type:
Community Development: Construction/Renovation
Summary: At least 2 handicap ramps installed at homes of Hopi families identified by Redfeather on the Hopi reservation
There are many families on the Hopi reservation who, because of the relative poverty and lack of community support struggle to access their homes due to age, infirmity or handicap. Redfeather has identified families who need this kind of support and has a source for materials and lead carpenters. Rotary would provide the financing and hands-on building assistance to complete the ramps. Rotarians would travel to the Hopi reservation to complete the ramps in October of 2023. This would be as much a cultural exchange between Rotarians and Hopi natives as a building project, and a strong showing of support for our Hopi neighbors. The additional $1250 necessary to fund the project will come from a local private foundation - Stone Soup - which has partnered with the Flagstaff Rotary Club on past projects to the benefit of all concerned.

Thank you for your application. 1. I've edited your finance section to show that the additional contribution comes from your club. I recognize that it comes from another organization, but the website won't let me move forward unless the financial section balances. 2. If you project is, indeed, scheduled for October 2024, you'll need to apply next year, as this round of projects must be completed and reported by April 2024. Maybe this is a typo - if so please correct it. Thanks.
