St. Benedict campground in Alamosa CO is a legal campground for the homeless through the Street Outreach program at La Puente Home. The Street Outreach program offers continual support to the residents at St. Benedicts in the following ways:
a. Advocacy for basic necessities i.e. running water, fencing, cameras, porta potties, dumpsters and electricity;
b. Management of the Tiny Hut program, including property management, renovation, new resident intake and exit, identification of potential residents, upkeep and builder coordination;
c. Monthly clean-up in partnership with the City of Alamosa;
d. Supply Distribution;
e. Law Enforcement Education and Diversion
The Tiny hut program mainly targets the most vulnerable of the homeless population i.e. Veterans, Disabled, and the Stranded. The cost of each hut is $5300 each.
Grant monies will be used to support the building of one hut.
