Since 1961, the goal of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County has been to provide a safe haven for children 6-18 every day after school and during the summer months. Our six facilities in the communities of Lakeside, El Cajon, La Mesa, and Santee are fully staffed and equipped to provide more than 2,500 children with a safe, active and fun place to stay, play and learn until it's time to go home. No child is denied access to the Clubs due to the inability to pay the dues, and scholarships are offered to families in need of financial assistance. In order to keep membership dues low, they need the support of our community and beyond.
The Rotarian Academy Project provides children with the ability to acquire a better education.
The Academy Clubhouse stays open from 2:00-6 PM with mentors that encourage and assist in homework and study. They also track student progress i the "Power Hour" and "Rapid Reader" programs. The programs have shown great success and nearly 100% of their members benefit from this program. This will lead to lifetime of valuable reading and comprehension skills.
