The building for 4 Paws Rescue in Cardwell, MT needs many renovations. With the assistance of a construction supervisor, club members will help make the public restroom wheelchair accessible and construct three rooms (walls will be solid on the bottom 32 inches and tempered glass on the top 4-feet) in the shelter building where the public can meet adoptable cats and dogs. These rooms will also provide a safe place for residents of Liberty Place (a facility for people with traumatic brain injury) to interact with animals as part of their therapy program. Another program that will benefit is the Animal Shelter Reading Program where children practice reading to an animal "listener."
Grant funds will cover all project materials and provide a reduced compensation payment for an experienced construction supervisor who will cut out lumber for the walls (members will then assemble) and do the installation of the tempered glass in the upper walls. Club members will do needed demolition work in the restroom, help construct the walls of the three rooms, complete needed sanding, priming and painting, and project cleanup.
The project will start during the week of July 13, 2020 with a projected completion by August 31, 2020. Club members will work for a couple of hours at a time, mostly on weekends
