Mundoli Girls Secondary School, located in Khwisero Constituency, Kakamega County, has a population of approximately 250 students. The school currently has three computers, of which only two are operational. This severely limits students' access to digital learning, ICT skills development, and research opportunities.
With the rollout of Kenya's Competency-Based Education (CBE) and the growing digital skills gap, the absence of a functional computer laboratory places Mundoli Girls at a significant disadvantage. Key needs identified include:
Inadequate ICT infrastructure (only 2 working computers for 250 learners).
Limited opportunity for students to acquire essential digital literacy and computer skills.
Inability to effectively implement CBC, which mandates ICT-integrated learning.
Low exposure to online educational resources, research tools, and digital examinations.
Limited digital skills among teachers, restricting their ability to integrate technology into teaching.
The proposed project will establish a fully equipped computer laboratory with 30 computers, enabling full-class ICT learning sessions and creating a conducive digital learning environment.
The project will address the identified needs through the following interventions:
Installation of 30 modern desktop computers to ensure every student in a typical classroom can access ICT lessons.
Provision of essential ICT infrastructure, including furniture, networking, power backup, and security.
ICT training workshops for teachers to improve digital teaching competencies
The timeline for the project is approximatley three months
Funds requested will support the following components:
Procurement of 30 desktop computers
Computer tables and chairs
Procurement of UPS
Electrical wiring, power extension, and surge protectio
