The GERAR Global Grant Project aims to equip the Specialized High-Risk Rescue Group (GERAR), a volunteer organization integrated into the Civil Defense system of Jaraguá do Sul and the surrounding region (ANVALE), responsible for search, rescue, and response operations to natural disasters and complex accidents. The project provides for the acquisition of technical rescue equipment, aquatic rescue gear, and pre-hospital care supplies, as well as specialized training to increase the team's autonomy, safety, and operational efficiency during emergencies. The total project value is US$ 41,732.
This initiative is aligned with Rotary International's area of focus "Economic and Community Development," by strengthening community-based emergency services and expanding economic and social resilience in the face of extreme events. Implementation is expected to reduce human and material losses, improve regional response capabilities, and consolidate a sustainable cooperation model between Rotary, local government, and civil organizations.
