S U N S H I N E AT AGALI

Agali, a picturesque village nestled in the western ghats of Palghat district, Kerala, is a hidden gem known for its lush greenery and serene surroundings. As a gateway to the Silent Valley National Park, Agali boasts breathtaking natural beauty, with the Bhavani River flowing through it. This tribal village, located about 40 km from Coimbatore, is home to a vibrant community that has long been in need of quality healthcare services.

Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Hospital, situated in the heart of Agali, has been a beacon of hope for the local population. With a dedicated team led by Dr. Narayanan, the hospital has been providing round-the-clock medical care to the community, with a special focus on the tribal population. The hospital's outreach programs have been instrumental in reaching the unreached and addressing the unmet healthcare needs of the rural community.

The hospital, which started as a 10-bedded medical center in 2006, has grown to a 50-bedded facility with MICU and NICU facilities, catering to the needs of approximately 50,000 patients annually, with 60% being tribal patients. The hospital's services are provided free of cost, thanks to the generosity of philanthropic individuals, organizations, and CSR initiatives.

The proposed upgrade of the Operation Theater, supported by Rotary Club of Coimbatore West, will enable the hospital to provide advanced medical care to the rural community. The supply of an anesthesia work station and an ultra sound machine will significantly enhance the hospital's capabilities, benefiting patients from Agali and surrounding tribal villages, including those from Manaparai and Mannarkkad.

Rotary club of Coimbatore West was chartered in 1966 and is the second oldest club in the region. We have completed a few global grant project.
