Dr. Mario Valdano Hospital in the city of Las Parejas provides free healthcare to all those in need. Our city has a stable population of 18,000 inhabitants, most of whom are workers in the local metal-mechanical industries. Additionally, the hospital provides medical care to the entire Belgrano Department, which has a population of approximately 40,000 people.
Our hospital houses the only general inpatient center for both adults and children in the city. Surgical procedures and childbirth are carried out here, as well as hospitalizations for all types of medical conditions.
Unfortunately, the hospital beds are in a very poor condition. Some of them no longer allow the head section to be raised, requiring multiple pillows to be placed behind the patient to keep them in a seated position - something that is often necessary depending on the patient's condition.
For this reason, the Rotary Club of Las Parejas has proposed to provide the hospital with 20 state-of-the-art beds. At the Rotary Club of Las Parejas, we understand what it means to be hospitalized and the sense of vulnerability that a patient experiences. That is why we are committed to acquiring these beds - so that patients who must remain hospitalized can endure the situation in the most comfortable way possible, without spending their days and nights in uncomfortable positions. We want every bed to offer relief, rest, and dignity to the person who needs it at that moment.
Another area that concerns us is the lack of an ultrasound machine in our city. We know that disease prevention is one of Rotary International's seven areas of focus and one of its core pillars. Given the current demand for services, it is essential to have an ultrasound machine that can meet the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals, providing quick and reliable diagnostic imaging. The device would be operated by qualified personnel already working at our institution. The Las Parejas Hospital already has trained staff to perform these types of studies, which is an important step in being able to offer the service immediately once the ultrasound equipment is acquired.
The Mario Valdano Hospital is supported by a collaborative board composed of citizens from Las Parejas, including two members of the Rotary Club of Las Parejas.
The Rotary Club of Las Parejas is continuously engaged in promoting early disease detection campaigns. This project would be another way to continue supporting that mission.
