"THE MULTIPURPOSE COURT OF THE NEGAVITA EDUCATIONAL HEADQUARTERS: A STAGE FOR BODY,
SPORTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN THE CHÍCHIRA VILLAGE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PAMPLONA"
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The rural world in a country like Colombia has many natural resources, but at the same time, it is made up of marginalized territories where government investments arrive slowly and, in the worst cases, its populations see the years go by in oblivion without receiving the necessary support to improve their quality of life. In this sense, the horizon of the educational field is no less favorable. The Negavita Educational Center is one of the seven (7) centers that make up the CER (Rural Educational Center) Chíchira,
and is made up of a community full of needs, among which the existence of an adequate
multipurpose court that repairs the existing infrastructure and that is currently in a state of total deterioration, is a vital need that would promote integral and community development.
A new court, intended to display the physical and corporal dimension of the children of the
educational center, in addition to becoming not only a sports space, but also a recreational and social setting for the educational community and the social community in general, would be a magical and unforgettable contribution to the construction of social fabric in the significant rural world of our country by our Rotary organization.
Children, as they grow, require the possibility of developing both fine and gross motor skills. One of the activities that specifically deploys gross motor skills is related to the development of the body in its entirety, and physical activity, sport and recreation would thus be the activities and strategies that would essentially promote the development of these capacities that are gathered in the physical and corporal dimension and whose first development must be provided by the school as the governing institution of the educational field.
Unfortunately, many of these educational spaces have personnel but not the appropriate
infrastructure, therefore, the need to provide a setting in which 170 children and the community in general, made up of 500 inhabitants, can enjoy in a pleasant and safe way the social encounter and the physical, sporting and community development of all.
SUSTAINABILITY: (explain how the project will continue to operate once the financial support you receive for this project ends) The rural world is a territory full of faith and hope,
and a project such as the construction of a multipurpose court for the Negavita educational
center, conceived not only as a setting for physical and physical development, but also a
place to weave community knowledge and values in the Chíchira area, the ancient ancestral
territory of what we now call Pamplona, would guarantee its existence over time. The
sustainability of this project, according to the World Bank Group, focuses "on the creation of more inclusive societies, greater empowerment of citizens, and the promotion of more resilient and peaceful communities" (2020).
In this sense, the promise of building a multipurpose court is not only the apparent task
of providing physical infrastructure to an educational space; in reality, it is a commitment
to collaborate in the growth of a rural community that is increasingly full of purpose to work for its own social and economic development. Our desire as a Provincial Rotary Club is to empower its inhabitants to dream and to accompany them in the design of possible routes so that these dreams become reality.
Likewise, during the construction process of the multifunctional court at the Negavita school headquarters of the Chichira Rural Educational Center, a comprehensive plan for the
maintenance and care of the spaces will be guaranteed.
Once built, a regular maintenance schedule will be established that will include the cleaning, repair and review of the sports facilities. This schedule will be managed by a maintenance committee made up of members of the school community, including students, parents and teaching staff. In addition, the active participation of students in the care of the court will be promoted, instilling in them a sense of responsibility and belonging towards the space.
To ensure the good care of the spaces, awareness campaigns will be implemented on the importance of keeping the facilities in good condition.
