Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Colombia

Location: Quimbaya Quindio

Total Budget: $70,863

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT: Increase the technical and logistical capacity of the Volunteer Firefighters Corps to strengthen the installed capacity with the acquisition and provision of a support unit for basic assistance transportation to guarantee first aid care for the inhabitants of the municipality of Quimbaya, Quindio, Colombia. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Quimbaya Volunteer Fire Department seeks to guarantee the transfer of people who require it in a decent means of land transportation and with a basic endowment to provide timely and adequate care to the patient during the trip to the nearest health center. To this end, it intends to develop this project and achieve the acquisition of a properly equipped support unit that allows to efficiently provide the assistance and transfer that the patient requires to maintain their stable state of health while they arrive at the health center.

PLEASE DESCRIBE WHAT NEEDS YOU IDENTIFIED? HOW WILL THE PROJECT ADDRESS THESE NEEDS? WHO WILL BENEFICIARY OF THIS PROJECT? MENTION AN ESTIMATED NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES. The Rotary Club of Pasto Valle de Atriz has among its Rotary members health professionals who are part of the hospital's medical group and has identified this maximum need for the vital health of the neonatal population of the department of Nariño and its surroundings. Most of the mothers who are cared for in this hospital are from a low socioeconomic background, with many risk factors for the birth of premature babies, and they are the newborns who have the greatest need for attention in critical care units, so it is not enough to cover the urgent needs of incubators and ventilators available in the neonatal intensive care unit, which the San Pedro Hospital Foundation has at this time, which is why this project was presented. PLEASE DESCRIBE

WHAT NEEDS YOU IDENTIFIED? HOW WILL THE PROJECT MEET THESE NEEDS? WHO WILL BENEFICIARY OF THIS PROJECT? MENTION AN ESTIMATED NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES. (15 lines maximum) There is a deficient provision of basic assistance transport services due to low technical and logistical capacity, insufficient and/or obsolete vehicles, in addition to the low availability of qualified personnel for emergency care, which is generating an increase in pre-hospital deaths due to delays in transfer, high costs for service providers when resolving demands, an increase in demands due to negligence in transport to the healthcare center due to the lack of service specialization, in addition to the lack of resources to allocate to the patient's personal expenses and an increase in the cost of travel to health centers not only due to the limited money but also depending on the time due to the lack of vehicles. Needs that can be met by the volunteer fire department, but it does not have a support unit that allows it to provide comprehensive care, taking into account the attributes of quality, population assigned to provide services and area of influence to which transfers are made according to requirements. This is why there is a need to acquire and equip a support unit for the Quimbaya Volunteer Fire Department, seeking to improve and supplement the provision of pre-hospital assistance transportation services; allowing timely and quality service to be provided to those who request it and meet the conditions for using the service. It is expected that with this support unit the entire population of the municipality of Quimbaya that requires the service will be served, but objectively the following statistics are shown: SUSTAINABILITY: (explain how the project will continue to operate once the financial support you receive for this project ends) The Quimbaya Volunteer Fire Department, within its budgetary autonomy, has the necessary financial and human resources to commit to the sustainability of the project in relation to fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance, etc.

IS THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED? DESCRIBE THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUITY. The community is highly committed to the Volunteer Fire Department by cooperating with the project, loving and respecting the institution, providing free support to it and being attentive to participating in all the activities that the Quimbaya Volunteer Fire Department programs. concept value en pesos value in dolars cost or the project cop 288.059.730 us 70863.4 local club cop 4.065.000 us 1000
