Implement a comprehensive and replicable project for the prevention and elimination of cervical cancer in commune 6 of Neiva, increasing HPV vaccination coverage and screening through DNA testing, while training community leaders and local health teams, with the aim of creating a sustainable method aligned with WHO guidelines, which can be replicated globally to save lives and improve public health.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (15 lines maximum) The "VIDA Initiative" is a comprehensive project that seeks to support health entities in the territory and train the community of Commune 6 of Neiva, an area of high socioeconomic vulnerability, to combat cervical cancer. Developed by the Neiva Las Ceibas Rotary Club in collaboration with the Salamanca Borrero SalBo Foundation, the local community, the Huila Health Secretariat, the Neiva Health Secretariat, the Neiva Women's Secretariat, the Universidad del Rosario, the Colombian Society of Pathology and the Intersectoral Health Roundtable led by the Universidad Surcolombiana, the project aims to become a pilot model worldwide. Its objective is to demonstrate how civil society, represented by Rotary, in alliance with territorial entities and the community, can contribute to the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem. Key activities include HPV vaccination
campaigns, screening days with HPV DNA tests, awareness programs, and training of community leaders to ensure long-term sustainability. In addition, local health teams will be trained to ensure continuous, quality care. This initiative, aligned with WHO guidelines, seeks to establish a method for preventing and eliminating cervical cancer that can be replicated in other regions of the world.
