IDENTIFIED NEEDS

1. Toilets and Handwashing Stations

Issue: Inadequate washrooms, with shared facilities between preschoolers and older

students, leading to long distances for young learners.

▪ Recommendation: Upgrade existing washrooms, including tiling the boys' urinals,

repairing the girls' washrooms (which have broken doors), and constructing additional

washrooms and handwashing stations for preschoolers

2. Lack of Digital Literacy Lab

▪ Issue: The school has only 7 computers, which are not in good condition, making it

challenging to provide quality computer lessons.

▪ Recommendation: Repair existing computers, purchase additional units in line with the

student population, and refurbish the computer room to create a conducive learning

environment

3. Lack of Readers books

o Issue: Insufficient readers books with a current ratio of 1 book for every 5 students.

o Recommendation: Acquire more readers' books to improve literacy and access to

learning materials

4. Classroom Blackboards

o Issue: Classroom blackboards need repainting; consideration for installing

whiteboards for better learning experiences.

o Recommendation: Repaint existing blackboards and explore the installation of

whiteboards

5. Alternative Source of Lighting

▪ Issue: High electricity bills averaging Kshs 35,000 to Kshs 40,000.

▪ Recommendation: Implement solar lighting as an alternative energy source for the school,

including a solar heating system for the boarding facilities. Funds saved from electricity

bills can be redirected to address other urgent needs.
