Project Description Region: Africa Country: India Location: Dharwad Total Budget: $30,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Rotary Club of Seven Hills Dharwad is a 15 year old all ladies club in RID 3170. Our club regularly conducts community service projects in the rural and urban areas. One of our major focus areas are conducting awareness programs for school children on the topics of Menstrual Hygiene Management, Disease Prevention, Saving the Environment and many more. We are inclined to conduct these activities in the local Government schools as they need support to create awareness among the students. The students in these Government schools usually hail from rural backgrounds and from lower socioeconomic strata. The awareness programs conducted by our club gives them a boost to follow and easily implement day to day practices for good health, hygiene and nutrition. On many such occasions, during our visit to the schools especially in rural areas, we observed that most schools did not have basic facilities like basic toilet facilities, clean drinking water and the schools lacked basic library facilities.
