1. Project Overview.

Our yearly project is the medical and Dental Mission in the Philippines and with enough money collected funds we would be able to include water well to rural and poor communities.

Medical and dental missions are an essential aspect of humanitarian aid, providing much-needed

healthcare services to the under served communities in the Philippines.Poverty, shortage of healthcare facilities and access to hospitals are one of the challenges for these communities.

The humanitarian impact of medical and dental missions is significant, as they play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. This project not only provides immediate medical and dental care, but they also have a long-term impact on the overall health of the community. It provides education and awareness about common health issues, such as hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention and promotes healthier lifestyles.

Building well water in these communities has a huge impact on improving health and sanitation but also a reliable source of clean water for drinking which is a basic human right. The presence of a water well in the community can have a positive impact on the economic and social well-being of its residents.

2. Describe how your program meets community need.

In the Philippines, access to quality healthcare is a major challenge for many rural poor communities. Limited resources, lack of infrastructure, and geographical barriers make it difficult for these communities to receive the medical and dental care they need. Through local government and church communities we are able to communicate the needs for that community. The number of people that are getting sick and accessibility to medical facilities plays a huge role for the services we need to provide and prepare.

Further more, the well water project addresses the specific needs for these communities, These poor communities lack well water that they have no choice to travel by foot to fetch clean water or others may travel to nearby depleting rivers to bathe and clean. By addressing these key factors, well water projects can have a significant impact on the health, and overall development of these communities.

3. Explain how this project is sustainable.

In order to address sustainability for our projects as we serve the underserved communities. Providing basic healthcare needs and the water projects to those who can not afford it, that ultimately improve the overall health and well-being of the community. There are key factors that need to be considered and have a long-term plan in place. We focus on preventative measures, such as educating the community on proper hygiene and nutrition, in order to prevent future health issues. It is crucial to involve the community in the planing and implementation process. This is not only ensures that the project meets the specific needs of the community, but also creates a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members.

Furthermore, partnerships with local healthcare providers, local government and other organizations can greatly enhance the sustainability of these projects. By working together, the community is well educated, improve their awareness, prevents health issues and it's cost effective.

4. Define the population your project serves and explain why this population needs this project.

According to the Philippines Statistics Authority, around 17.6 million Filipinos live below poverty line and around 9 million people do not have access to safe water sources. They struggle to meet their basic needs, including access to healthcare, lack of healthcare, lack of education, inadequate government support, absence of proper infrastructure and lack of funding.

These projects not only provide immediate relief to those in need but also contribute to the overall improvement and well-being of the community. These projects also provide access to clean water, improve health and economic situations, and promote community empowerment and sustainability.

5.Describe how beneficiaries of this project are identified including the number of beneficiaries that will be served.

Prior to medical, dental mission and water well projects. It takes one year of planning, preparation, and fundraising to organize. our club discusses any factors needed to propel our projects. We communicate with church organization, local governments and other Philippine Rotary Clubs to assess and discuss communities that need help. A couple of our members often travel to meet with the community leaders once we identify the community to do a project, we ensure and secure the site. It is then reported back to our club to finalize the preparation, organize logistics and resources for the mission.

Through this report, the beneficiaries are identified as the approximate size of the communities that we will be serving. The numbers of beneficiaries are officially counted after each medical and dental mission.

6. Describe how you will measure the success of the program and state your expected outcomes. Describe how you will determine if these outcome are achieved.

The true measure of success lies in the impact it has on the community. One of the most important ways to measure in this type of project is through the number of people who are able to receive medical and dental care.

Various services for these projects are the medical consultations, pharmacy, reading glasses ,dental care and treatment, and minor surgery. Each service department counts the number of patients helped and the end of the day, a final number is totaled of the people aided at each medical project. Those numbers are normally by the thousandths and if we achieved more fund, we would be able to surpass the number of people helped during previous year.

The most important meaning of success is the number of people we have change their lives and improve the quality of their life. The outcome is achieved by bringing hope and healing to those in need free from pain, well-educated and community awareness.

7. Described how funding for this project will be used.

The funding for this project will be used towards medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, antibiotics, diabetic, pain, vitamins for children and adults, fever, cough and all kinds of diseases. The minor surgeries and dental team require surgical equipment such as cauterizing equipment, anesthetics, surgical and clinical supplies, surgical covers, head covers, gloves, masks and portable exam lights. Both Departments require portable autoclaves for sterilizing for all dental and minor surgery equipment. As a back up, when blackouts occur in these communities we will be using enzymatic solution for disinfecting these medical instruments.

Funding will be needed for reading glasses and miscellaneous expenses such as gas, transportation, water and food.

8.Describe the projects implementation timeline, assuming funding begins July 1, 2025.

Projected date is February 2026 for the mission, and assuming funding starts on July 1, 2025, we will immediately have the target sites for this projects by the end of July 2025. By mid-August we will be purchasing all the medical and dental supplies including all the medications for the projects. In September 2025, a couple of our club members will be traveling to the Philippines to finalize and confirm the mission sites. In October 2025, all medications are packed and in November all boxes are prepared. By February 2026, club members are ready to travel, taking all the boxes with them to the Philippines. The medical and dental mission is aided by volunteer Dentists, Surgeons, physicians, Nurses from the Philippines and the USA.

9. Describe the plan (s) to publicized this project.

Once target community is identified, the next step is to create a strategic plan for promotion. We will include utilizing various forms of media, newsletter, and banners. Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram can be used to reached a wider audience and create buzz around our projects. Volunteers and other organizer in the Philippines will also help spread the news project in each community, church events and have banner displays to those community sites.
