Project Description

Region: North America

Country: Mexico

Location: Delegation Of Francisce Z

Total Budget: $65,000

Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, The environment

The Francisco Zarco Sports Park is the central recreational "sports complex" of the Guadalupe Valley community. It was originally built in the 1980's when the valley's population was quite small. It consisted of a "rapid" soccer court, concrete volleyball courts and some playground equipment. But, without restrooms.

The valley's population has since grown to to more than 15,000. Currently, on weekends, the Zarco Sports Park is use by up to fifty plus soccer teams ranging in age form late teen to young adults; volleyball teams use the volleyball courts. WITH NO REST-ROOM. There is no your oriented soccer field. Metal bleachers are unusable. Lighting for security and sports play are insufficient at best. Families take their children to enjoy the meager and aging playground facilities. The park still lacks restroom facilities which represent a sanitation problem - nothing more needs to be said.

The concept of the project is to improve and amplify the sports park. In addition to installing restrooms, and adding a youth soccer field, install playground equipment, improving and updating the other facilities of the park, the project will improve the recreational facilities of a rural community.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
