Project Description Region: Africa Country: South Africa Location: Port Elizabeth Total Budget: $69,617 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy This project represents a continuation of thee Early Development (ECD)Phase 5 training of practitioners working in EDC Centers via the government approved (ETDG SETA) NQF Level 2 and new Occupational Qualification at Leve 4. Phase 5 will be completed during May 2024 by conducting a graduation ceremony. Phase 6 of this process now applied for will train at least 40 EDC practioners, 3/4 of whom NQF Level 2 and 1/4 for Occupational Qualification Level 4. In this grant we will be partnering with Early Inspiation, they have successfully undertaken five previous phases of Early Childhood Development practitioner training. The GM and staff are all have qualified teaching degrees. In addition we will start the "Empty Toy Box Education" program which has already successfully undertaken by RC of Polokwane(a neighboring district). The underlying principal is the use of recyclable materials to create educational toys by ECD practitioners to be used in their creches to stimulate the educational development of the children in their care.
