Project Description

Region: Asia

Country: India

Location: Raipur

Total Budget: $57,410

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Cosmo "Vision on Wheels" will be a Mobile Eye Clinic customized & designed with Force

Motors, Traveler Vehicle. It will be a state-of-the-art mobile eye clinic, having all amenities

and latest medical equipment, appropriate supplies of medicines & other requisites to

conduct tests & on-board procedures, a comfortable and soothing interior environment for

both medical staff and patients and most importantly the carrier and messenger of the

noble cause being taken up.

The Mobile Eye Clinic will operate primarily in Raipur and its neighboring Districts, in both

Rural and Urban areas. Camps will be organized regularly with approximately, 1 camp every

week. The Mobile Eye Clinic will be used to reach both city and remote areas, covering both

urban and rural parts of the state. The Goal will be to assist at least 1000 - 1200 patients

every month, providing medical care at subsidized costs compared to other hospitals for

both outpatient and surgical treatments. The aim will be to travel across Chhattisgarh from

Raipur, covering a distance of at least 150 kms and offering services in Raipur District and

the neighboring districts like Bemetara, Mahasamund, Durg, Mungeli, Kawardha, and

Baloda Bazar.

The Medical Team will engage with people who will be visiting the camps in various ways

such as making general eye checkups & focusing on various specific issues related to the

eyes. One such major and common issue is that of Glaucoma. As per reports 80-90% of

Glaucoma still remains untreated because of lack of awareness of damage caused by Eye

Pressure. Eye pressure, also known as intraocular pressure (IOP), is a key factor in detecting

a condition called glaucoma. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, which can lead to vision

loss or blindness if not treated. Monitoring eye pressure helps catch glaucoma early when

it's easier to manage and prevent vision loss.

The objective of the camps organized will be to examine visitors and identify people having

issues with their eyes. They will be further referred to and offered treatment at the main

hospital, at Raipur. The team will also engage in conducting basic eye care awareness

sessions, at camp locations.

The Mobile Eye Clinic will be equipped with machinery and equipment, some of which are

Slit Lamp, LED I Chart, Auto Refractometer & Non-Contact Tono Meter. The Exterior of the

Mobile Eye Clinic will carry the message of the noble cause, along with the branding of

Rotary and the associates of the project.
