The project is to provide 10 selected schools and communities with clean drinking water through mechanized borehole systems, and also build clean, eco-friendly micro flushed toilet blocks for households in the communities and schools. The schools are public schools and the communities are deprived and congested urban and rural communities within the Sunyani Municipal Areas of the Bono Region, Ghana. The Sunyani Municipality is about 90% urbanized with an estimated population of about 300,000 people. However, the communities and schools at the fringes of the city face serious challenges with access to water and sanitation services. This is harming the quality of life and the environment of the schools. The Rotary Club of Sunyani-Central has received several requests from the communities and schools for help to address these challenges. The club has extensive experience and expertise from the successful implementation of similar projects in the past in several communities and schools in Ghana. Our approach has strong sustainability and community participation right from the planning through to the implementation and post-implementation stages of the projects. The club welcomes clubs and district with interest in the project to work with.
Your project is "Fully Pledged". This means the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project. Now the project needs to be finalized and go through the approval process with The Rotary Foundation. This process gets started on the administration page.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
