The specialized manufacturing center for Orthopedic equipment is a project of Rotary Club Loreto and with the Provincial Municipality of Maynas. The main purpose of the project is to manufacture orthopedic products and provide support to more than 600 low-income patients, who come from the city of Iquitos, different districts and provinces of the Loreto region per year.

This project adjusts to these needs to fill the current gap and address the growing increase in people with physical disabilities who cannot purchase orthoprosthetic equipment in the Amazon region.

The project has two specific objectives: 1) equip upper and lower limb amputee patients with orthopedic equipment, psychological help, and physiotherapeutic support, and 2) train people with physical disabilities in the manufacture of orthopedic footwear and repair of wheelchairs. wheels to meet the demand of the community.

Given the demand of patients asking for support of some orthopedic equipment, be it a prosthesis, wheelchair, walker, to the Rotary clubs of the city of Iquitos and observing the need through the "A Prosthesis for You" Campaign carried out by the Rotary club Loreto, whose purpose was to obtain a diagnosis of this need of people with physical disabilities in the city of Iquitos, it was reflected that patients from the city of Iquitos and the district of Nauta enthusiastically participated in the campaign, therefore the project is intended for people with physical disabilities from the city of Iquitos and other provinces to provide them with orthoprosthetic equipment, psychological assistance, not to mention physiotherapeutic support.

Currently, physically disabled people with limited economic resources cannot obtain orthoprosthetic equipment because there is no orthopedic center in the city and secondly, there is no economic means to travel to the city of Lima where this equipment is manufactured at high prices. The project wants the equipment to be completely free for patients with limited economic resources.
