Reforestation of Bhutan's forest Project is intended to restore the forest through restocking of its forests where the forest cover that has been at high risk of depletion due to increased development activities. For the benefit of the environment and the human population and wildlife, Bhutan has made a Constitutional commitment to maintain 60% forest cover at all times to come. Such a commitment put a heavy burden on the country and its population's livelihood . However, Bhutan is committed to uphold its promise to ensure that the environment , human and the animal species remain and are protected.

A project titled Bhutan Forest Restoration (BFR) in collaboration with the Royal Government of Bhutan is initiating a tree plantation project to repopulate a forest area measuring 100 acres, at a location called Kuenselphodrang in Thimphu, Western Bhutan. Under the initiative, a total of 50,000 tree saplings will be planted . The tree species chosen for plantation are blue pine, chirpine, rhododendron, dogwood, oak , cherry and peach. The human residents, animals in the forests and the local environment will be the beneficiaries of this global grant. With the tree plantation there will be increased offset of carbon to help reduce the emissions from the air.
