The main objective of the Monrovia College (secondary) & Industrial Training School, Inc., STEM Laboratory Expansion Global Grant is to (1) provide the schools three 3, (10th-12th grade) laboratories (biology, chemistry and physics) with a comprehensive supply of laboratory apparatus; (2) Provide school laboratory personal with In-Service Training on equipment maintenance and the proper handling of specific chemicals, and how to conduct effective laboratory sessions that will adequately prepare the students to meet The BECE and WASCE exams requirements.

The students are required to take the BECE (Basic Education Certification Exam) in their junior year. The WASCE (West African Student Certificate Examination) is required in their senior year. Receiving these exams Certificates are crucial to providing the students the opportunity to enter universities, employment opportunities and professional advancement.

The Project assessment, training, supply acquisition and evaluation are provided by Smart Learning, Inc. based in Liberia, The Rotary Club of Sinkor, and community leadership. All brand-new equipment will be purchased in Liberia with free installation and set-up, a one-year warranty and free technical assistance. Upon receipt of funding the project will be completed within 90 days (to include during the summer break for school personnel).
