Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Colombia

Location: Cali

Total Budget: $60,580

Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

Promote forms of non-violent relationships among ICB students in Cali that contribute to the transformation of problems present in their social context. Strengthen the empowerment of social actors in the community to promote their active role in conflict resolution.

In the community there are families with informal jobs, overcrowding, family violence, which generates bullying, aggression and discrimination in the school; it is vital to involve students as part of the solution through the teaching of peace through playful activities. The school does not have computers that allow students and teachers access to office tools, which will facilitate the process for them to acquire skills for peace and conflict reduction, including reinforcement with agreements to generate artistic and sports skills to promote attitudes of peace and conflict resolution to consolidate what they have learned and that this brings them closer to scenarios that generate equal conditions for their future employment.

Direct beneficiaries:

210: 180 students, 20 foster parents y 10 teachers

Indirect Beneficiaries

+400: families of students

Activities:

● Initial meeting with teachers and agreement managers.

● Initial assessment of students' skills, abilities and perceptions.

● Design a playful-digital program (Peacers Go) to implement positive peace based on the results of the assessment.

● Train the staff of the educational institution so that they can acquire and promote the pillars of positive peace.

● Equip a classroom in the school with computers.

● Deliver analog kits to the institution.

● Acquire sports equipment and implements for art/theater classes.

● Initiate training on the use of computer equipment, sports classes, musical theater, etc.

● Apply virtual surveys to see the impact achieved.

● Documentation of the intervention carried out.

● Socialization of the process through virtual media (this point will be transversal to the duration of the project).

SUSTAINABILITY

By generating knowledge and technological, artistic and sports skills focused on strengthening peace and conflict resolution, young people improve their life context, and will be leaders who promote change.

The project will be developed in the school, in the systems room (where the computers will be within the ideal parameters for their operation) and in other internal facilities.

The school is willing to continue the project through a signed agreement where they commit to continue strengthening peace and conflict resolution through technological literacy to the community and is committed to create spaces where young people can express their opinions and be heard on a regular basis.

The kits delivered will belong to a library bank of the institution that will serve in the long term to new students entering the school.
