Project Description Region: South-East Asia Country: India Location: Burdwan, West Bengal Total Budget: $47,700 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health Burdwan is a densely populated town with limited medical facility. Tertiary medical care has not developed here as proximity to Kolkata, a major metropolis, makes all medical facility available at 110 kms distance. But the transit from Burdwan to Kolkata has always been an ordeal for the critically ill patients. An ambulance equipped with Intensive care facility and ventilatory support is a dire necessity here. Getting one from Kolkata whenever a need arises is time consuming and financially dear. Timeline: Procuring the ambulance from the manufacturer with licensing formalities can be the only limiting factor in timeline other that arranging the funds. For the running and maintenance Rotary Club of Burdwan South Trust will act as the cooperating organization and take charge. Members of the club will participate in oveseeing the running and upkeep of the ambulance.
