Global Grant Synopsis:
A Dialysis Centre. Our Dialysis center project is focused on providing hemo dialysis facilities to the needy patients in and around Belgaum City and those who can't afford to go to private hospitals. The facilities available in the Govt. system are not adequate to meet the regular demand.
Our project aims to increase the number of dialysis units in an already established set up, which will improve the critical care facilities and save the life of many patients who are deprived of the treatment due to high cost of the treatment in other private hospitals. As per the data available from the Government sources almost 40-50 patients wait for their turn to get affordable/subsidized treatment. This data establish the need of the treatment for the needy poor patients in and around the Belgaum City.
Dialysis is essential for patients suffering from "End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)". Preliminary studies indicate that that the prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has been the precursor to ESRD is 0.8% in India. The major contributing causes to CKD are diabetes and high blood pressure amongst others. Diabetes and hypertension are increasing at an alarming rate across the country. Hypertension is observed in 20-40 percent adults in urban areas and 12-17 percent adults in rural areas which will be about 213.5 million in 2025. India is the world capital for diabetes cases with projected number to be 57.2 million in 2025.The cost of treatment of patients undergoing dialysis and suffering from ESRD is very high and is in the order of Usd$150 - Usd$300 per month.
