Project Description

Region: North America

Country: Canada

Location: Toronto

Total Budget: $91,625

Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

The production and distribution of an educational, feature-length documentary 1.5 Degrees of Peace, as well as educational impact and outreach campaign, directed by Award-Winning Gen-Z Documentary Filmmaker and Peace/Climate Activist, Kasha Sequoia Slavner. founder of youth-led media organization The Global Sunrise Project.

The documentary film 1.5 Degrees of Peace sheds light on the unexamined links between peace, disarmament, and climate justice. It will showcase how working towards climate justice is inseparable from striving to achieve global peace.

1.5 Degrees of Peace will be used as an educational tool, to inform audiences about the inseparable links between these two issues. The film follows the unfolding stories of youth, especially those most affected by the climate crisis, conflicts, and militarism, who are focused on finding solutions and building bridges between the peace and climate justice movements and breaking down the silos.
