One in every ten adults in Kerala suffers from Cancer. With an incidence of 20% as against 8%, the national average, Kerala has been named the Diabetes capital of India.The State of Kerala has the highest cholesterol level in India.Mulanthuruthy with a population of 30,000 has a Rotary Club situated 20 kms south of Kochi, the commercial capital of the State.
SD Tata Trust Aided Hospital in Chottanikara, near Mulanthuruthy is planning to set up an affordable cancer detection centre for which an ultrasound machine is one of the basic diagnostic tools. The project is to equip the Hospital with this diagnostic equipment.This will go a long way in eliminating the need to travel long distances to get the test done and that too at bare minimum cost to the patient.
