Adequate blood is required in any Health care facilities, be it primary or Secondary Health care facilities to meet with the regular need for patients facing trauma or other life threatening emergency situations. Regular blood donation by healthy adults are required regularly to ensure that safe blood will always be available whenever and where needed. Blood is a precious and live saving gift that one can give to another person during emergency situations - It is a gift of life. Blood Donation is safe for healthy adults; no risk of contacting diseases. However, despite the knowledge of its importance,it is still most la la lacked in our health care facilities in our community and beyond. So many have lost their due to non availability of blood during emergency situations.
Our project seeks to provide solar - powered blood bank standing refrigerator with its complete components and accessories to Abia State college of Health Sciences and Management Technology Demonstration Clinic Aba Nigeria. The software component of the project includes training of staff and other Health workers involved in the administration of blood as well as maintenance team to ensure Sustainability. The project shall also involve carrying out week long campaign awareness promotion to sensitize the healthy youths for behaviour change towards blood donation. The campaign is aimed at making them realise that regular blood donation is healthy with positive Health implications.
