This project aims to support Ratnanagar Bakulahar hospital (Bagamati provincial governmental hospital of Nepal) by providing 7 numbers of hemodialysis machines to treat the poor kidney patients who do not have affordability to treat in the private and Kathmandu based city hospitals. This hospital has a service catchment of 30 districts, from where around 200 kidney patients annually receive dialysis services with 3 numbers of dialysis machines. However, the total demand is seen to be about 500 kidney patients per year. The government of Nepal has a policy to develop human resources for operating dialysis machines in all district and provincial hospitals, but there is no any training center (hub) established at the moment. This hospital, as centrally located in Nepal, would be the first and the right place to establish a training hub of the government's kidney dialysis centers.
The proposed budget includes the costs of the hemodialysis machines, training, installation, reverse osmosis machine, furniture, tables, chairs and beds. The costs of human resources (doctors, nurses, assistants, technicians) will be managed by the hospital with the provincial governmental support.
