Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: Nigeria

Location: Abuja

Total Budget: $87,576

Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

RC Abuja Wuse II in partnership with Gray Child Foundation (GCF) are to conduct a national training of trainers. 111 Positive Peace Ambassadors (Field Agents) are to be trained & deployed nationwide for a hitch-free and efficient cascading of the Activating Positive Peace in Nigeria (APP.N) programmes. GCF is a local platform established for the mobilization of Rotarians for the purpose of APP.N; Rotary Associates and GCF have taken peace building initiatives to the nukes & crannies of Nigeria. We have embarked on projects & programs that would establish peace infrastructures in rural communities, urban metropolis, academic & public institutions. Our objective is to create a network of community peace builders across Nigeria, who would have the capacity to act as an early-warning-sign mechanism that would readily identify, address, contain, monitor & report brewing conflicts and uprising, & would also help curb direct violence, gender based violence & child abuse.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
