San Carlos is a community of 350 people who make their living by farming small plots of land on the outskirts of Quito (and within the city limits). For years they depended on untreated water from a spring above the community and tanker trucks during the dry season. Three years ago they were able to connect to the city water supply, but that water is delivered with such pressure that the 30 year old pipes have many leaks. The community has to pay for the water that passes through the large meter, but only a portion of that water actually gets to the users. The project seeks to replace the pipes and provide meters so that each user can be billed for their use. The project budget is between $38,000 and $40,000. This will be the ninth project of this nature that our club has undertake, and successfully completed.
Project funds will be used for piping, fire hydrants (required by city), and technical supervision. Our club members are involved in shepherding the process and in purchasing the supplies. The city does not have the funds to do this work.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
