Acquisition of equipment to diagnose and treat patients with Post-Polio syndrome (PPS) and rare diseases at the Ana Carolina Xavier de Moura Hospital Rehabilitation Center, in Curitiba.
Post-Polio syndrome (PPS) is a disorder of the nervous system that affects individuals who had Polio about 15-more years ago. The initial symptoms are: Progressive muscle weakness, fatigue and muscles and joint pain, resulting in decreased functional capacity, emerging of new disabilities and in some cases, difficulties in breathing and swallowing may arise.
Currently there is an estimated number of 180 patients with Post-Polio syndrome (PPS) treated at the hospital.
