We will provide 50 Jersey Cows to 25 women who are from 5 different rural areas around Samsun Turkey.
Women who are widowed or have a family members with disability will be given top priority. Additionally, along with participants, other livestock farmers in the region will be trained on animal care and feeding. The project seeks to train livestock farmers about marketing and operating a farm business.
The project will help in:
Building the capacity of local leaders, organizations, and networks to support economic development in poor communities; Developing opportunities for productive work and improving access to sustainable livelihoods; Empowering marginalized communities by providing access to economic opportunities and services; Addressing gender or class disparities that prevent populations from obtaining productive work and accessing markets and financial services; Empowering communities to develop environmental and natural resource conservation skills for economic gain; Developing and supporting community-based basic emergency preparedness services to improve economic resilience;
Samsun Atakum municipality is responsible to carry out the project. The cows are insured for 2 years. The project will be managed by a manager and 3 veterinaries from Atakum municipality and an agricultural engineer from Samsun Karadeniz Rotary.

The host club will play a role in guiding the project. Our club has previously done various global grant projects for the socioeconomic development of villagers (https://www.samsunkaradenizrotary.org/global-grant). Our club also completed other projects in Samsun, Vezirköprü, Bahçekonak village between 2002-2003.
