Project Description Region: Africa Country: Nigeria Location: Port Harcourt Total Budget: $46,800 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene Sinking of borehole with associated facilities and construction of a toilet building with 8 toilet for boys (4 toilets) and girls (4 toilets) for two public schools in Rivers State. Objective of Project: Objective of the project is to promote water availability, sanitation and basic hygiene amongst students and staff of public schools in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This will also help in preventing the transmission of disease and discouraging open defecation Intended Beneficiaries: The intended beneficiaries are the over 1000 student population in each of the schools and their teachers and other workers in the schools. Additional Info: Water, sanitation and hygiene is a basic problem in public schools in our communities, that is further compounded by COVID-19 pandemic (i.e. regular washing of hands). Provision of water borehole and sanitation facilities in the identified schools will not only help address the hygiene problem but also help in the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
