The project location will be Association for Assistance for Children with Disabilities (AACD), in São Paulo, Brazil - https://aacd.org.br/. The organization was founded in August 1950 at a time when the country was facing polio. It focusses on providing excellent medical and therapeutic assistance in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. The Institution serves people of all ages, receiving patients from the public system, health plans and private individuals. Currently, the institution has nine units in different cities, with specialized multidisciplinary teams. In São Paulo, the orthopaedic hospital performs about 7000 surgeries per year. AACD also maintains five orthopedic workshops, considered a national reference. In addition, the institution has a specific area, responsible for conducting courses, events, and research. AACD also works on the social inclusion of people with physical disabilities through programs such as "AACD Esportes", which invests in sports as an instrument of social integration of patients and their families. Over the years, great talents of adapted sport have been revealed.
The main purpose of this project is to structure the conditioning room, to provide patients a friendly environment to the activities, thinking about the physical and mental-being.
Monthly, about 200 patients will be benefited. They are people with physical disabilities caused by amputation, neuromuscular diseases, brain injury, spinal injury, congenital malformation, myelomeningocele, cerebral palsy, and sequelae of polio.
