Digital Literacy for Blind people and people with Low Vision:
In Peru there are more than 900,000 people between blind and low vision who need to use computer technology so that they can achieve better professional development and family well-being. Blind people also improve their quality of life by being inserted into the Work environment.

In Lima there are 05 non-profit organizations that could implement Digital Literacy Centers for the Blind and Low Vision, after our visit to 02 of these centers we have been able to verify that they do not have the financial means for the necessary infrastructure.
It is necessary that blind and low vision people can receive computer training to achieve better professional development, improve their quality of life, family well-being and globally improve social inclusion in our country.
Our Project aims to reduce the gap in digital literacy in all regions of Peru, implementing digital classrooms with state-of-the-art technology and Tiflotechnological equipment in the different teaching centers of the Computer Science course that have teachers trained in teaching for blind people and with low vision at the national level.
Initially specialized equipment will be implemented in the teaching of the computer course for the blind in 01 Institution that would be the pilot center. The institution that receives the donation will be responsible for the safety, sustainability and maintenance of the project.
Project timeline:
-Fund raising: 06 months.
-Evaluation and purchase of equipment: 03 months
-Installation of equipment, tests, training for teachers 01 month.
The necessary budget is $ 30,000 and will be used to buy 12 typology equipment (Hardware and Software) to implement the classroom for 12 blind students.
Our Rotary Club participates with the installation, supervision and monitoring of the project for 6 years.
