SANITATION :
Provision of sanitary pads
(a) To improve / provide safe disposal of waste matter in Mityana Town through provision of a cesspool emptier and using funds charged for emptying to fund sanitary pads provision to disadvantaged pupils. Mityana got piped water about seven years ago and waterborne sanitation is growing though pit latrines are still in use. When septic tanks get filled, the residents have either relied on getting emptiers from Kampala or have resorted to digging pits in neighbouring plots for disposal of matters. This is very tedious and expensive and unhygienic. Provision will have two advantages being affordable and therefore encourage higher level of hygiene and raise funds for provision of sanitary to selected schools. More land areas will also be available for development.
(b) Public toilet rehabilitation - There are two waterborne units which are out of use due to lack of repair. Rehabilitation of these two units will improve sanitation and since the users pay minimal fee, the funds so generated will go to the provision of pads project.
Hand washing campaign -
To provide hand washing facilities to schools;
Supply and installation of rain water harvesting system and hand washing stations (water gutters to roofs, storage tanks and sensitization.
EDUCATION :
Installation of Thunder (Lightning) protection to school buildings
Installation of Solar lighting - to improve on studying time
