North Platte struggles with homeless military veterans. Because of the shortage of affordable housing and mental health challenges, at risk veterans survive on the streets. The Connection Homeless Shelter in partnership with the Mid Plains Community College building trades classes has begun development of the Honor Home at Patty's Place which will eventually have tiny homes for seven military veterans. North Platte community members are coming together to volunteer critical resources to lay the foundations, insulate, drywall and complete the inside of each home. The first three homes are on site and will be installed as soon as the foundations are complete. Noon Rotary members will prime and paint interior surfaces.
