Project Description Country: USA Location: Carlsbad Total Budget: $6,000 Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: We raise money to fund scholarships for high school seniors in Carlsbad. We are dedicated to providing scholarship assistance to high school seniors in the City of Carlsbad. We have a dedicated team of Club members sho raise finds through a scholarship raffle, then solicit applications and conduct interviews of the students. We have given scholarships for many many years. Over the last four years we added the raffle which expanded donations, exposure of our Club, and most importantly increased the amount of money we are able to award to worthy students. We are happy to reward the hard work of so many amazing students in their pursuits of educational and vocational goals. This program, and the interview process engages the community, and introduces the students to Rotary. Our application asks students what they know about Rotary. They either find out on their own, or we tell them! The grants are paid directly to the schools the students choose. The District matching grant allows us to greatly leverage our impact.
