Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego County Total Budget: $10,000 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Youth Services Program La Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club will support Youth Services Programs during the 2026-27 Rotary Year including: 1. Collaboration with San Diego Workforce Innovation High School, a nonprofit public school that addresses the needs of students facing unique economic challenges, including out-of-school and at-risk youth seeking college and career opportunities not currently available to them in the traditional school system. • Scholarships for continuing education or vocational training: up to 8 scholarships for $500 each • Holiday gifts, such as toys and clothes, for up to 30 children of high school students, most of whom are single parents: $1500 • Prizes for winners of Slam Poetry Contest: $500 2. Rotary District 5340 Model United Nations - a program teaching international relations and diplomacy for high school students • Support up to 4 teams (8 students + teacher/advisor) for the 2027 conference: $2000 • Assist up to 4 students from Central American with transportation to attend the 2027 conference if additional funds are secured 3.
