Summary: Stock Christmas stockings for youth students at local low income early childhood development center.
We partner with the Escondido Early Childhood Development Center (ECCDC) to supply stockings full of toys to low income children (infant through kindergarten) that attend ECCDC. Our Club Members shop for all of the toys and goodies that go into the stockings that will be delivered to the children. The Members then spend a meeting as a service project in early December packing up all of the stockings. Then, one of our Club Members dress as Santa Claus and the Club delivers the stockings to the students at the ECCDC campus. Each classroom is brought out one by one and each child gets the chance to sit on Santa's lap, have a picture with Santa, and be delivered a stocking full of toys. All of these children come from low income families, as the purpose of ECCDC is to provide child care and education for low income children in Escondido. This projects allows our Club to serve the community with this outreach to those children that may not otherwise get an opportunity to see Santa Claus or receive a stocking full of gifts. The project begins with the shopping for the gifts in November, which is completed by our Members, and then concludes in mid December with the delivery of the stockings and Santa's visit to ECCDC. The funds are used to purchase all of the toys and stockings for the kids.
