Summary: Buying the bikes. ALL second graders at Harriett Tubman Ele. Sch will be entering a writing contest. They must research and write an essay. The essay will be about 'How to improve your school's community'.
As a low income school the majority of second graders do not have bicycles. The students need to improve their writing skills. The teachers use this contest to motivate the students to research and talk about the needs of their community, and write an essay how they would make it better. The funds will pay for some of the bikes. The Club Foundation will pay the remaining. The bikes are assembled by, usually, 10 Rotarians and 6 Interact students from Mt Miguel and Grossmont H.S.
The bikes are assembled the first week of December and distributed near December 10.
