Summary: Back to School Supplies & Backpacks for elementary school, Healthy Kids Program at JRYMCA, LEAD, RYLA, MODEL UN
Title 1 school with students from low-income families who are unable to afford basic school supplies. Child health and obesity is at a all-time high in the Southeast San Diego community due to limited access to fresh, healthy food and lack of education on healthy meal planning on a limited income. We participate in Healthy Kids Day, to show kids & parents how to make healthy snacks, provide healthy snacks and new reading books for the kids, more than 3,000 kids attend the event. Sponsorship of high school students selected to participate in Model UN, RYLA, 8th grade team to LEAD and Teacher Appreciation gifts.
Club members are involved in all projects doing from buying, packing and delivering school supplies, working with the kids during Healthy Kids Day, interviewing, selection and management of participants in Rotary Youth programs. N, RYLA, 8th grade team to LEAD and Teacher Appreciation gifts.
