Cabrillo School is a K 1-4 Title 1 elementary school located in Point Loma, San Diego CA. This school has very little in community support due to, among other things, a transient population of military families who are subject to deployment at any time. One significant lack at this school is any type of arts program. This project will help pay for students to attend the Arts District Liberty Station's Liberty School Education Program for Underserved Youth. Instruction is held in the Liberty Station Arts District. The program uses different fields of art to help students learn in new and creative ways; to promote a positive learning attitude; to increase self-esteem; and to encourage exploration of new possibilities for the future. Because these students come from a variety of backgrounds, students attending this program will receive learning opportunities that are not otherwise
available without outside support from community groups. The students will take classes with professionals in the fields of photography, dance, art, music, playwriting, animation, writing. Members of the Rotary Club of Point Loma will oversee the program, visit classes, and ensure the program meets Rotary goals to provide quality education.
This project builds on the success of similar projects from 2023 to 2026. (see attached report)
