DYO is a youth baseball organization in Broken Bow, NE. DYO works to make improvements to their baseball programs and equipment on an annual basis. Last year, as an example, DYO had concrete poured in their batting cage to help facilitate baseball practices regardless of weather; which eliminated the players hitting in mud after rainstorms. However, one of the batting cages (nets), the primary net, has holes throughout which can no longer be fixed. Due to these holes, both players and cars have been hit by balls that have went through the holes. This causes a safety concern and makes it difficult for other teams and community members to use the batting cage. The batting cage is stationed outside and can be used by any member of the community to enhance their skills. A lot of work has gone into making Broken Bow baseball a competitive sport and kids in the community, ages 5-19, use this batting cage on a regular basis. These grant funds will be used to purchase a new baseball net, which will replace the current baseball net that has holes throughout.
