Project Description Country: USA Location: Hastings, NE Total Budget: $1,290 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Provide funds for Hastings Public Schools music department to purchase new musical instruments Provide financial support to the Hastings Public Schools music department to purchase new musical instruments by partnering with the Hastings Public Schools Foundation and the Hastings Public Schools Board of Education. The need for quality instruments and music items in Hastings Public Schools is growing. The number of students requiring a school-owned instrument to participate has steadily increased over the past ten years. Additionally, the personal cost of acquiring an instrument prevents many students from joining each year. Many HPS owned instruments are more than thirty years old, with some over sixty years old, and are of basic quality. Some have been repaired to the point that they are now irreparable. The HPS Foundation Board of Directors has set a $450,000 fundraising goal. The HPS Board of Education has committed $250,000 in matching funds for this effort. This project will benefit students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, in all elementary schools, Hastings Middle School, and Hastings High School. Hastings Sunrise Rotary would like to aid the Hastings Public Schools Foundation with a gift of $1,290 to help meet their goal of $450,000.
