Summary: Providing a safe and accessible paved pathway for pedestrians along highway 26 in Morrill, Nebraska.
The Village of Morrill currently has a 6 acre greenspace called FoMo Park that was formerly used as a high school football field and as a baseball diamond used by youth baseball programs. It is no longer used in this manner. It currently has pickleball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, and a farmer's market area. The Morrill Rotary Club has taken on a long term project to make certain improvements to FoMo Park (named after the Fox and Moline families who donated the land). The first phase of the project will be to provide a paved pathway along Hwy 26 which forms the southern border of the park. Currently pedestrians, including school children, walk along the highway shoulder to access several businesses east of town, including a minimart, diner and motel. This pathway will provide a safe and handicap accessible pathway for these pedestrians. This pathway will eventually become part of a walking path encircling the park. Future plans include the walking path, a covered pavilion, renovated public restrooms and a memorial tree park where families can plant trees to honor their loved ones. Construction will begin in August with Rotary members helping with sod removal and site preparation. Project funds will primarily be used for the cost of concrete. A local contractor will be donating labor for the project.

This project is "Approved". This means that the district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Once the funds from the district have been issued, the status of the project will be changed to "Paid".
