The Rotary Club of Cody Wyoming, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Western Pampanga Philippines, proposes Project Solar Aqua Life Initiative, a sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiative designed to provide reliable access to safe and clean drinking water for public elementary school learners.
This project aims to address the challenges of limited access to potable water and proper hygiene facilities in public schools through the installation of a solar-powered water pumping system, deep well drilling, and establishment of a safe drinking water distribution facility within the school premises. By utilizing renewable solar energy, the project ensures an environmentally sustainable and cost-efficient water supply system capable of supporting the daily needs of students, teachers, and school personnel. The initiative also promotes proper hygiene, health, and sanitation practices essential in creating a safer and healthier learning environment. In particular, this project aims to:
* Provide sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water
* Improve sanitation and hygiene conditions within the school
* Reduce water-borne illnesses among students
* Promote environmental sustainability through solar energy utilization
* Support better health, attendance, and learning outcomes for children
The project will be conducted by the Rotary Club of Western Pampanga with funding from the Rotary Club of Cody Wyoming. The Rotary Club of Cody Wyoming has committed to funding three schools at approximately $5300 per school.
The Cody Rotary Club will also be involved in this project with Project Monitoring and Documentation and a School-to-School Partnership Program. Under Project Monitoring and Documentation, Cody Rotary will select 2-3 Rotarians to participate in site selection, review budgets and timelines, review progress reports and photos, create project stories for publication, produce before and after impact reports, and present outcomes to other clubs. The Cody Rotary Club will also work with the local school system and create a partnership program that educates the local classrooms on the needs and activities of the schools in the Philippines. This will discuss both water, hygiene, and sanitation as well as cultural connections.
