Summary: Rim Country Rotary- Payson Annual Banquet for local police and fire department employees to show appreciation for the protection they provide to the community.
The Payson Rotary club has set up and paid for an annual banquet for the local first responders for 27 years in a row. All police and fire department employees are invited and may bring one guest. The Payson police and fire departments uses the banquet for their annual awards ceremony. The event is usually held every year in March and will be held again in the spring of 2027. The banquet is held at the Mazatzal Casino and the Mazatzal tribe makes the ballroom available at no charge. The Rim Country Rotary Club-Payson pays for the dinner, and the club members ask local businesses to provide items that are given out to the police and fire department employees as door prizes. Last year the Rim Country Rotary Club paid for 130 dinners and collect 55 items and gift certificates from local businesses that were give as door prizes. The door prizes included everything from free haircuts to four box seat tickets to a diamondbacks game. The expectation is that the event will be at least as large in 2027 as it was in 2026. Consistently this is the Rim Country Rotary Clubs biggest event of the year, and it is the one event every year at which the local police and fire department employees can be recognized and appreciated for protecting the Payson community. In addition, Rim Country Rotary was awarded the Show Stopper Event award at the District annual meeting for our last First Responder's Banquet.
