The ROC is a community center located in Garland, TX that cares for children after school hours and on weekends during the school year and has a Summer program for children in need. The following items have outlived their useful life or are additions to the ROC's services for the children. These items will assist the children, staff and volunteers with the various services offered.
1, Commercial grade Gaga Ball Pit Panels, Gaga balls and inflator.
2, Quickplay Q-Fold Match Soccer Goals and Soccer Balls, 6 and 10 and under.
3, Baby car seats, to assist in child transportation.
4, Lifetime 6ft wood grain folding picnic tables.
5, Replacement of building sign destroyed in storm.
6, New water heaters for children's showers and laundry.
7, Clothes washer to clean donated clothing before distribution.
The completion of this project will allow children in this lower socio-economic, apartment-dominated neighborhood an organized, safe, hospitable, and comfortable recreation facility for the target community. Activities in this venue help promote understanding and goodwill within the ROC community thus creating a vision for hope in the overall community served.
The ROC serves over 1400 children and young adults with not only recreation needs but also personal needs such as clothing, meals, and guidance in personal choices.
Prestonwood volunteers will assist as needed in completing this project and one member of PRC is on the ROC Board and will personally oversee the distribution of funds.
The project cost is $6,838 and should be completed within several weeks from approval.
