The Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary Club is requesting District Grant funding assistance to purchase a Powermatic Band Saw for the Career, Technology, and Education (CTE) Building at Estes Park High School. This is a small rural high school that serves about 300 students in Grades 9-12.
The CTE program prepares students to graduate with the skills and knowledge to be successful as entry level employees in a variety of industries or go on to prepare for post secondary education in these industries. Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary focuses their annual scholarships on graduating seniors that are planning on vocational-technical studies.
This equipment will directly support student learning in woodworking, fabrication, construction technology, and vocational education programs. The new band saw will replace or supplement aging equipment and provide students with access to professional-grade machinery that improves both safety and instructional capability.
The project aligns with Rotary's commitment to supporting education, workforce development, and youth opportunity within our local community.
Community Need
The Estes Park High School CTE program provides students with practical, hands-on technical education opportunities that prepare them for careers in trades, manufacturing, construction, engineering, and related fields, which nationally is recognized as having a workforce shortage. The CTE program is available to all interested students. A lack of English proficiency is not be a barrier to participation or admission.
Modern industrial equipment is essential to maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. While some of the equipment is reaching end of life, the Powermatic Band Saw will allow students to:
• Learn proper woodworking and fabrication techniques
• Develop career and technical skills
• Improve safety practices through use of modern equipment
• Gain exposure to industry-standard tools and technology
Beneficiaries
Students participating in the Estes Park High School Career & Technical Education programs.
